We would like to present amazing work we are working on a lake plot in Tuftonboro. A place different from many others with breathtaking views and unique nature.
A home you can look for for a long time without finding anything similar
Lake Winnipesaukee, located in central New Hampshire close to the Belknap mountain range, is one of today's finest holiday areas across the United States. The lake covers 72 square miles with 183 miles of shoreline. It is the largest lake in New Hampshire and the third largest lake in New England. The max depth is 180 feet but most of the lake is between 20 to 100 feet deep.
A place for our clients to recharge
In the first meeting about design with the owners, we understood that this home needed to be counterpoint to a hectic world of workdeadlines, traveling, urban pace and active residens.
As a family they spend considerable tim in the mountains and in the nature, traveling and doing a lot of sport activities.
We wanted this home to be calm and a serenity and we knew that only this rural site can provide this. We needed to create a place to recharge and sooth that melt with this deepbreathing nature around.
Spatial Calm
The outside nature and inside of the home are melting together. Out of respect for the sourrounding nature this house carefully tucks into the forest. Perched on a low hill, the house looks over the lake, bucolic cattle fields, and the forest itself. The house forms around a courtyard of natural grasses and ferns, with rooms themselves woven between mature cedar and fir. A low wall of stacked natural stone organizes the building and hints at the perimeter of the courtyard. The house was designed as both vacation house and part-time residence for every generation of a large local family. Intended for summer BBQs, fishing retreats, and grand holiday gatherings, the house was designed to be flexible and durable. With a palette of naturally weathered woods, concrete, stone walls, and black steel accents, the house strives to be warm and rustic, simple and open - a house that honors both the forest and agricultural heritage of the site.
