Our villa project in Tuftonboro, USA.

Oppdatert: 19. mai

House of Urbanik & Co develop this villa in Tuftonbor, USA. This is our first property development project in USA.

About

Sited on a hill sloping towards views of Lake in Tuftonboro, covered with forest beyond, this home for a vibrant family of four carefully weaves together their rituals of daily life with an awareness of the site's existing natural elements.

Garden courts washed in natural light and lush with native vegetation are delicately carved out between earthen concrete masses, giving a meditative pause between the active living spaces.

These negative spaces create a foreground of intimacy with light, earth, air, and native plantings, in contrast to the expansive framed vistas of water, mountains, and sky that are ever present in the distance beyond. The upper volume nestles the bedroom spaces into tree canopies above, modulating daylight, privacy and views with delicate wooden screens. The home acts as a lens that gives material presence to the ephemeral qualities of life and place.

The concept

The clients who will buy this property will love the rural but modern villa with 4 en suite bedrooms. This project would distill their way of living into a smaller footprint, specifically tailored to slow life tastes and activities. Early design discussions focused on a simple modern structure with a quiet palette constructed on a modest budget.

The home is be open and light filled but also provide privacy. Above all, the villa is for clints who described a quiet design integrated with landscape that would create a tangible calmness in the home.

The concept grew from this premise, drawing complexity from the opportunities and constraints of an urban corner lot. A courtyard in the center of the home brings light and private outdoor space deeper into the site and serves as an organizational hub. The result is a project that is simple but very intentional and serves as a backdrop to the landscape and the lifestyle of its fututre inhabitants.
